For more information on collecting collective agreements, see: The University and LUFA bargaining teams met on October 1-2, 2020 to continue their discussions for a negotiated renewal of the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA) collective agreement. In the coming months, the university will strive to keep all interest groups informed of the progress of the faculty`s collective bargaining. Negotiations will resume on 23 September 2020. The university`s goal is to negotiate through this process a collective agreement for our faculty that reflects the important role they play in our student life, while reflecting the unprecedented times related to COVID-19 and the current financial situation of the university. During the month of September, the university`s and LUFA`s bargaining committees met four times to secure a negotiated renewal collective agreement. We continue to work to ensure that the negotiations are concluded without interruption of work. On Friday, September 11, 2020, the bargaining committees of the university and the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA), the union representing the university`s faculty, began collective bargaining. With negotiations set to begin in two days this week, starting September 10, committees paused to recognize and participate in #ScholarStrike, two days of action to protest systemic violence against Black, Indigenous and People of Colour in Canada, the United States and around the world. The university is confident that the collaboration with Mediator Kaplan will help secure a negotiated collective renewal agreement without work interruption. More haggling will be provided next week.

Negotiating teams will continue to meet on October 1-2 to address these issues.
